A promotional event for an upcoming Tollywood film turned into a scene of panic and disorder at a popular Hyderabad mall on Wednesday night. The incident involved actress Nidhhi Agerwal, who was mobbed by an overenthusiastic crowd, leading to a near-stampede situation.
Event Spirals Out of Control
The trouble began at Lulu Mall in Kukatpally during the launch of a song from Nidhhi Agerwal's forthcoming movie. News about the actress's appearance had circulated widely on social media and through word of mouth, drawing hundreds of fans to the venue. While the event itself was held in an open area within the mall, private security guards had to prevent many onlookers from gatecrashing the restricted zone.
Chaotic Exit and Security Scramble
The situation reached a critical point when the actress attempted to leave. By the time she made her way to the exit, a massive crowd had gathered, with people jostling aggressively to catch a glimpse or take photographs. The crowd became unmanageable, forcing security personnel to form a physical cordon around Nidhhi Agerwal.
In a bid to ensure her safety, the guards had to physically escort the visibly shaken actress through the chaotic throng and rush her into a waiting car. Viral videos from the scene captured the intensity of the moment, showing a clear risk of a stampede caused by the unruly mob.
Police Take Suo Motu Action
Following the viral spread of the incident's videos, the KPHB police registered a suo motu case. Authorities took legal action against the mall management and the event organisers. KPHB Sub-Inspector K. Lingam confirmed to the Times of India that the primary reason for booking them was that the event was conducted without obtaining necessary police permission, a mandatory step for managing large public gatherings.
This case highlights the critical importance of event organisers and venue managers adhering to safety protocols and securing official clearances to prevent such dangerous situations involving public figures and their fans.
