Former Deputy NSA Pankaj Saran Applauds Dhurandhar Sequel as a Milestone for Indian Cinema

Pankaj Saran, the former Deputy National Security Advisor of India, has expressed high praise for the Ranveer Singh-starrer film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, describing it as a new benchmark for Indian cinema. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie was released in theatres worldwide on March 19, garnering significant attention for its execution and storytelling.

Praise for Film's Quality and Global Standards

In an interview with ANI, Pankaj Saran lauded the film's execution and its depiction of events inspired by real-life incidents, noting how it aligns with global filmmaking standards. He stated, "I love the film. I love Dhurandhar 2 more than Dhurandhar 1. I mean, minus the violence, which I thought was a little over the top, but in terms of cinema, production, skills, and quality, I think it sets a new benchmark for the Indian film industry. It's going to be very difficult for anyone to match up."

Comparison to Hollywood and Artistic Liberty

Saran also compared the film to Hollywood war movies, highlighting its professionalism. He remarked, "We've grown up seeing all kinds of war movies, but they were so amateurish. This one is really professional. A lot of these incidents, names, and people are real and true. We've grown up in an era fed with Hollywood films that made caricatures of Nazis or Russians, creating enemy images that challenged imagination. So, it's fine if the director uses artistic license to exaggerate a particular story based on real incidents. It needs no justification because it's in keeping with the culture of movie-making globally."

Strong Box Office Performance Continues

Meanwhile, the film continues its impressive run at the box office. According to Sacnilk, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has crossed the Rs 900 crore mark in just 13 days of its release, demonstrating its widespread appeal and commercial success.

Star-Studded Cast and Sequel Details

The film features Ranveer Singh in the lead role, alongside a talented ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, and Sanjay Dutt, with Yami Gautam making a cameo appearance. Dhurandhar: The Revenge serves as the sequel to last year's Dhurandhar and marks the second directorial venture of Aditya Dhar, following his National Award-winning debut Uri: The Surgical Strike, which starred Vicky Kaushal.

This endorsement from a high-profile figure like Pankaj Saran underscores the film's impact on both cinematic quality and cultural relevance, positioning it as a significant achievement in contemporary Indian entertainment.
