Emraan Hashmi Slams Bollywood's 'Crap Mentality' Towards 'Dhurandhar' Success
Emraan Hashmi Criticizes Industry Mentality on 'Dhurandhar'

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has voiced strong criticism against a prevailing negative mindset within the Hindi film industry, specifically in reaction to the historic commercial triumph of director Aditya Dhar's epic film, 'Dhurandhar'. In a candid interview, Hashmi expressed his frustration with colleagues who attempt to diminish successful films instead of celebrating them.

Emraan Hashmi Calls Out Industry's Negative Mindset

Speaking to India Today, Emraan Hashmi did not mince words while addressing what he termed a "crap mentality" common in Bollywood circles. He reflected on the industry's tendency to react to massive box office wins with skepticism and attempts to pull down the achievement. Hashmi emphasized that such victories should be a source of collective pride and benefit.

"Whenever a film does a certain amount of business, firstly, you're happy, but there is a crap mentality in our industry. People like [to] run-down films," Hashmi stated. He elaborated on the broader impact, arguing that celebrating success is crucial for the industry's overall health. "I'm of the opinion that if something does well, you should celebrate that… the more films do well, it gets for the industry, and the cash flow comes in. It helps everyone. So, that crap mentality shouldn't be there," he added.

Praise for 'Dhurandhar's Audacity and Audience Power

Despite not having seen the film yet, Emraan Hashmi openly admired the scale and ambition behind 'Dhurandhar'. He praised the filmmakers for backing an unusually long cinematic experience and still managing to draw unprecedented crowds to theatres.

"I think it's a great film. The marketing of the film, the way it's... I've not seen the film, but it's audacious when you have two parts like that. And a film that is almost three and a half hours, but it's doing that kind of business," he remarked. Hashmi specifically highlighted the role of word-of-mouth and the pure power of cinema in driving its success, noting that audiences are flocking to early morning shows for the four-hour experience. "And that's the power of cinema and word of mouth. It's caught on like wildfire," he concluded.

Record-Breaking Box Office Numbers and Future Projects

'Dhurandhar', directed by Aditya Dhar and featuring a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan, has indeed rewritten history. According to official numbers, the film's domestic earnings have soared past the Rs 840 crore mark. Its global collection stands at an impressive Rs 1,240 crore, making it the highest-grossing Indian film of all time in a single language. The sequel is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19.

On his own professional front, Emraan Hashmi is gearing up for the release of Neeraj Pandey's crime drama web series, 'Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web'. The series, which also stars Anurag Sinha, Nannyish Sandhu, and Amruta Khanvilkar, will begin streaming on Netflix from January 14.
