A Journey of Patience and Life-Altering Moments
For Divyanka, the path to pregnancy was one of quiet hope and meticulous attention. "I was checking those strips almost every month, waiting for the lines to appear, and when it finally happened, it took time to sink in," she reveals. "When I told Vivek, we were quietly happy. I didn't celebrate right away. There was a shift in my mind and body. I became very cautious about what I ate, how I worked out, even how I moved. I was suddenly extremely self-aware and protective."
Vivek describes the moment as nothing short of transformative. "It felt like someone rewrote our script overnight. The course of my life changed completely," he admits. "It didn't begin with joy. It started with disbelief, then a bit of panic, and eventually settled into a quiet happiness over the past few months. It took me time to absorb it, but now I feel ready to embrace this responsibility." He adds with a smile, "I have never watched the calendar as closely as I am doing now."

Choosing to become parents in their 40s, Divyanka and Vivek approach this new chapter with a sense of clarity and resilience. Divyanka emphasizes, "One shouldn't let age become a fear. It should become a source of strength. You understand your body better, and that becomes very important. Along with your doctors, you have to listen to your body."
Vivek echoes this sentiment, addressing societal perceptions head-on. "There is a notion about how pregnancy is seen at different stages of life, and in your 40s, it is seen as high-risk. But we look at it differently," he explains. "We are at a stage where we have seen life and have more emotional clarity. So we are driven more by intention and less by pressure. It is something that has become very evident in our lives, and we feel this is what we need."
Unexpected Cravings and Deepening Bonds
While Divyanka's journey has involved slowing down and heightened self-awareness, Vivek has experienced an amusing side effect: intense cravings. "My cravings have shot up. I've been bingeing on ice creams and chaats, and suddenly I want burgers all the time," he shares with a laugh. "Divyanka says I look more pregnant than her in terms of cravings, and I can't argue with that."
Beyond the cravings, pregnancy has brought the couple closer, fostering a deeper, unspoken understanding. Divyanka notes, "When you conceive, you begin to discover each other in a very different light. There's a shift from what is spoken to what is simply understood. There were times when my behaviour confused him, but now he senses what I need even before I articulate it."
Vivek reflects on this newfound maturity in their relationship. "I realised that we have come together in a real way, not like in films. I have gained more respect for Divyanka," he says. "When you see your partner go through so many changes, you realise that a relationship is not just about love or the good days. It is also about showing up when things feel uncertain or exhausting. That's where maturity comes in. I feel I am becoming more responsible and mature, and so is Divyanka."
