The highly anticipated trailer for Dhurandhar has finally dropped, and it promises to be Ranveer Singh's most violent and intense film to date. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Aditya Dhar, the blood-stained thriller is set to hit theaters on December 5, 2025.
Trailer Launch and First Impressions
The trailer was officially launched in Mumbai on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, introducing audiences to the gritty world of undercover operations and counter-terrorism. The visual presentation is drenched in crimson, setting the tone for what appears to be an uncompromising look at the dark realities of intelligence operations.
Ranveer Singh makes a powerful entry towards the end of the trailer, delivering a chilling line that has already become the talk of social media. "Tum logo ke patakhe khatam ho gaye toh main dhamaka shuru karu?" he asks, establishing his character as the central force that will shake the foundations of terrorism.
Star-Studded Cast and Characters
The film features an impressive ensemble cast that includes some of Bollywood's most respected actors. Arjun Rampal appears as Major Iqbal, an ISI agent whose introduction is described as unsettling enough to make viewers squirm.
R Madhavan plays Indian intelligence agent Ajay Sanyal, a character reportedly modeled after India's actual National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. His character provides the mission statement for the film when he declares, "We must infiltrate the very core of terrorism in Pakistan."
The supporting cast includes Akshaye Khanna as Rehman Dakait and Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam, creating a powerful lineup of characters that populate this dangerous world.
Based on Incredible True Events
While the filmmakers haven't officially confirmed the real-life inspiration, industry sources suggest Dhurandhar is based on the life of Major Mohit Sharma, who famously went undercover as Iftikhar to infiltrate Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s.
This isn't the first time this story has been adapted for screen. Earlier this year, actor Suhail Nayyar portrayed a similar character in Netflix's web series Saare Jahan Se Accha. However, Dhurandhar appears to take a much more graphic and violent approach to the subject matter.
The film marks Aditya Dhar's return to direction after six years. His debut film, Uri: The Surgical Strike, not only won him the National Award for Best Director but also launched Vicky Kaushal into superstardom. In the intervening years, Dhar has written and produced successful films including Article 370, Dhoom Dhaam and Baramulla.
For Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar represents his first leading role since 2023's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The actor made brief appearances in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again and a cameo in Aryan Khan's series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, but this marks his proper return to center stage.
The December 5 release date positions Dhurandhar as a major year-end spectacle that promises to deliver both critical acclaim and commercial success, following in the footsteps of Aditya Dhar's previous blockbuster.
