Vijay Deverakonda Reacts to Court Order on Chiranjeevi's Film Ratings
Deverakonda on Court Order Protecting Chiranjeevi's Film

Actor Vijay Deverakonda has publicly shared his complex reaction to a recent court order that led a major ticket booking platform to disable ratings and reviews for the upcoming film 'Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu', starring Megastar Chiranjeevi. The actor expressed feeling both "Happy and sad" about the development, highlighting a persistent issue in the film industry.

Deverakonda's Social Media Reaction

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Vijay Deverakonda posted a screenshot of the booking platform's page for the film, which showed the disabled rating function. In his accompanying post, he articulated his conflicted emotions. He stated he was happy that the hard work, dreams, and financial investments of many people involved in a film are now being protected in some manner.

However, his sadness stemmed from the reality that such protective measures are needed against actions orchestrated by "our own people." He poignantly questioned, "What happened to live and let live? and growing together?" This reaction came after the platform suspended the review feature for the Anil Ravipudi-directed film ahead of its Sankranti release, following the court's directive.

A Long-Standing Battle Against Organized Attacks

In his detailed social media thread, Deverakonda revealed that this is not a new concern for him. He disclosed that he has been raising alarms about organized and targeted attacks on films for many years. He traced the beginning of his awareness to the time of his own film, 'Dear Comrade', which was released in 2019.

"Since the Days of Dear Comrade I first began to see the shocking politics of organised attacks," he wrote. The actor lamented that his voice on this issue had largely fallen on deaf ears in the past, with many dismissing his concerns by saying that a genuinely good film cannot be stopped. He noted that every producer and director who has subsequently worked with him has come to realize the scale of this problem.

Recognition of a Widespread Threat

Vijay Deverakonda emphasized the significance of the court's intervention in a case involving a star of Chiranjeevi's stature. He argued that if a film featuring such a powerful and respected figure in the industry can face these threats, then the problem is undeniably severe and systemic.

"I have stayed up many nights wondering what kind of people do this, and how to deal with them to protect my dreams and dreams of many who will come like me and after me," he shared. He expressed relief that the issue is finally out in the open and receiving formal recognition from the judiciary.

While acknowledging that a single court order will not entirely solve the deep-rooted problem, he believes it at least becomes one less major worry for filmmakers. Concluding his thoughts on a positive note, Vijay Deverakonda extended his best wishes for box office success to 'Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu' and all other films releasing during the Sankranti season. The film also stars Nayanthara as the female lead.
