Celina Jaitly Expresses Relief as Delhi High Court Approves Legal Representation for Brother in Dubai

Bollywood actor Celina Jaitly has expressed profound relief and heartfelt gratitude following a significant legal development concerning her brother's prolonged detention in the United Arab Emirates. The Delhi High Court has granted permission for the appointment of a UAE-based legal firm to represent Major (retd.) Vikrant Jaitly, who has been held in Dubai for nearly a year and a half.

Emotional Social Media Update and Celebrity Support

Celina Jaitly shared this crucial update through an emotional Instagram post, where she extended her thanks to the judiciary and her dedicated legal team. In her heartfelt note, she wrote, “Today Hon’ble High Court of Delhi stepped in to Restore a Soldier’s Right. After months of relentless effort, I have secured legal representation for my brother, Maj Vikrant Kumar Jaitly (Retd.) held in the UAE for more than 16 months.”

The post garnered immediate support from fellow industry members, most notably actor Preity Zinta, who commented with encouragement and solidarity. Zinta wrote, “All the best babe. So happy things are moving in the right direction. Stay strong and don't lose faith.” Celina responded warmly, reinforcing their bond with affectionate words.

Court Directive and Pro Bono Legal Assistance

According to recent updates from news agency ANI, the Delhi High Court has issued a formal directive to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The court has instructed the MEA to appoint the Dubai-based law firm Al Maree Partners to represent Major (retd.) Vikrant Jaitly in ongoing legal proceedings in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Remarkably, the firm has agreed to handle the case on a pro bono basis, meaning they will provide their services free of cost.

The legal team, comprising advocates Raghav Kacker, Madhav Agrawal, and Suradhish Vats, proposed the firm's name to the court. They informed the judiciary that the lawyers are willing to appear without charge and have already independently accessed the necessary case details, demonstrating their commitment to the cause.

Background of the Case and Allegations

In her petition to the court, Celina Jaitly alleged that her brother was illegally abducted and detained in the UAE back in September 2024. She expressed deep concern over the central government's inability, despite the passage of over a year, to secure even basic information regarding his wellbeing or legal status. This lack of progress had heightened the family's anxiety and prompted their legal pursuit.

Concluding her social media message with a note of hope, Celina stated, “Together, with the steadfast support of the MEA, I truly believe we’ll bring back our soldier who gave his entire youth in service to our nation.” This statement underscores her faith in collaborative efforts to resolve the distressing situation.

The case highlights the challenges faced by Indian nationals detained abroad and the critical role of legal and diplomatic interventions. Celina Jaitly's persistent advocacy for her brother has brought this issue to public attention, emphasizing the importance of timely legal representation in international disputes.
