Bollywood actress Daisy Shah has recently opened up about a distressing moment from her early career, detailing a negative casting experience that left her deeply uncomfortable. The incident occurred in Mumbai when a filmmaker from the South Indian film industry visited the city to audition actresses.
The Uncomfortable Meeting That Changed Her Perspective
While speaking with The Free Press Journal, Daisy Shah revealed that numerous aspiring actresses had gathered to meet the filmmaker for potential work opportunities. She estimated that approximately six to seven girls were present, all waiting their turn for a one-on-one meeting with him. Each candidate was called inside individually, a process that quickly raised red flags for Shah.
Daisy Shah described what specifically made her uneasy: "I was touched badly by one of the filmmakers from the South. He had come to Mumbai specifically for casting purposes. We were a group of six to seven girls who went to meet him. He was meeting every one of us separately, but I immediately disliked the situation because he touched me and held my hand in a manner that felt inappropriate."
The actress further explained that she has always been particularly sensitive about physical contact. "I've consistently been apprehensive about people touching me. This is precisely why I avoid getting massages—I don't enjoy being touched, even by women. When it comes to men, the discomfort is significantly more pronounced," she elaborated.
Walking Away as Self-Protection
The moment became so unsettling that Daisy Shah decided she could not continue with the meeting. She recalled, "That experience completely put me off. I told him politely that I would get back to him, but I never did. I chose to leave immediately and never looked back." This decisive action represented her method of protecting herself in a potentially vulnerable situation.
Reflecting on the incident, Shah shared an important lesson she learned: "The entire episode taught me a crucial safety principle—you should never meet anyone alone in such professional contexts. It's a precaution that has stayed with me throughout my career."

In the same interview, Daisy Shah also touched upon public perceptions regarding her career trajectory, particularly the widespread belief that her success is heavily dependent on actor Salman Khan. "I no longer feel upset about such conversations," Shah stated. "I recognize that receiving help is a normal part of life and professional growth. However, I also understand that my own hard work and dedication play an equally significant role. Success operates like a chain reaction—you perform well, you contribute positively, and the momentum continues. Unfortunately, many observers refuse to acknowledge this complexity. I've moved past feeling hurt by these assumptions and have become accustomed to this particular aspect of industry discourse."
