As Cocktail 2 neared the end of its shooting schedule in January, the production team introduced a visually striking element by filming a special song in Mumbai. This sequence, featuring Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kriti Sanon, injected a burst of color and energy into a film that has been described as having a dark and intense overall tone. Cocktail 2 is described as a spiritual follow-up to the 2012 film Cocktail, which was directed by Homi Adajania. The original movie starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty, exploring a love triangle set in London and performing well commercially with box office collections reportedly exceeding Rs 120 crore.
The sequel is written by Luv Ranjan and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. It marks the first on-screen pairing of Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, while also reuniting Shahid with Kriti Sanon after their collaboration in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024).
