Bollywood actor Chitrangada Singh feels a strong sense of destiny in her casting for the upcoming crime thriller sequel, 'Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders'. She reveals she was initially approached for a special song in the first film but the collaboration materialized in a much more significant way for the follow-up.
From a Missed Song to a Pivotal Role
In a recent interview, Singh shared her admiration for the original 2020 film, 'Raat Akeli Hai', starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Inspector Jatil Yadav. She praised its narrative style, calling it a gripping mix of courtroom drama, thriller, and mystery. "I love it when the director is milking every moment, every character, and every emotion. And all of that was all there in the first film," she said.
After watching it, she messaged director Honey Trehan to express her appreciation. Trehan had previously asked her to perform a special song for the first movie, but scheduling conflicts prevented it. That missed opportunity, however, set the stage for her key role in the sequel.
An Instant 'Yes' for the Sequel
When Trehan reached out for the sequel, Singh didn't hesitate. "It was a big yes," she stated. At the time, she was shooting for 'Housefull 5', but immediately cleared her schedule for January-February to join the new project. "So, to work with him, be part of this world (was amazing)... It's destiny," the actor remarked.
The new installment, premiering on Netflix on December 19, sees Inspector Jatil Yadav return to investigate the murder of multiple members of the Bansal family. The case unravels a complex web of greed, betrayal, and dark secrets tied to a deadly conspiracy.
A Stellar Ensemble Cast
Chitrangada Singh joins a powerful ensemble cast for this mystery. The film features veteran actors like Deepti Naval, Ila Arun, and Revathi, alongside Sanjay Kapoor, Rajat Kapoor, Priyanka Setia, and S M Zaheer. This collective talent promises to bring depth and intensity to the intricate plot crafted by Honey Trehan.
For Singh, joining this acclaimed franchise feels like a full-circle moment, proving that sometimes, the best opportunities are simply meant to be.
