BTS Tour Sells Out, Mexican President Makes Appeal

BTS 2026 World Tour Achieves Instant Sell-Out Across Continents

The global phenomenon that is BTS continues to shatter records, with their upcoming 2026 'BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG' achieving a complete sell-out for its North American and European legs within mere hours of tickets going on sale. This unprecedented demand underscores the unwavering popularity of the seven-member South Korean supergroup.

Presidential Appeal Highlights Unprecedented Fan Frenzy in Mexico

The fervor for tickets reached such heights that it prompted direct diplomatic intervention. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum was reportedly so moved by the disappointment of fans unable to secure seats that she formally reached out to South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. In her appeal, she highlighted the staggering disparity between demand and supply for the band's three scheduled shows in Mexico City this May.

"Everyone wants to go," President Sheinbaum stated, emphasizing the cultural moment. "Around 1 million young people want to buy tickets, but there are only 150,000 tickets available." Her request to President Lee was clear: to "bring the acclaimed K-pop artists more often" to Mexico. Despite also inquiring with the show's promoter, Ocesa, about adding more dates, the answer was negative, leaving the existing sold-out shows as the only option for now.

Ticket Economics and Cultural Wave

The commercial and cultural impact is profound. Tickets for the Mexico City concerts, which sold out in minutes last weekend, originally ranged from approximately 1,800 pesos to 17,800 pesos for VIP access. However, on resale platforms by Monday, prices had skyrocketed, with listings seen from 11,300 to an astonishing 92,100 pesos, demonstrating the premium fans are willing to pay. This frenzy is a testament to the growing Mexican appetite for South Korean culture, encompassing not just K-pop but also television dramas and cuisine.

Historic Global Itinerary and Added Shows

The ARIRANG tour is poised to make history as the most extensive undertaken by a South Korean artist, spanning an incredible 82 shows across 34 cities worldwide. The journey officially commences in Goyang, South Korea, on April 9, 2026, before progressing to Tokyo. The band will then traverse the globe, visiting North America, Europe, South America, and other parts of Asia.

In North America, the leg kicks off in Tampa on April 25, with stops including Mexico City, Las Vegas, Toronto, and Chicago, culminating in a four-night residency at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Due to overwhelming demand, additional shows have already been added in Tampa, Stanford, and Las Vegas. The European segment begins in Madrid on June 26, with concerts scheduled in Brussels, London, Munich, and Paris.

Return from Hiatus and New Music

This mega-tour marks a monumental return for BTS, who have been on hiatus from touring and group music releases since 2022 as members fulfilled mandatory South Korean military service. The band's label heralded their comeback with an announcement on New Year's Day, confirming a new album set for release in March 2026, just before the tour launches the following month, setting the stage for a landmark year in music.
