Tragic Accident Claims Life of Prominent Bengali Actor During Beach Shoot

In a devastating incident that has shocked the Bengali entertainment industry, actor Rahul Arunodoy Banerjee passed away after falling into a pit while filming at Talsari Beach in Odisha's Balasore district. Police authorities confirmed the tragic news on Monday, revealing that the accident occurred during a shoot for a television serial.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to Balasore Additional Superintendent of Police Gayatri Pradhan, the incident took place on Sunday around 5:30 PM. "The Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee and actress Sweta Mishra were shooting for a serial at Talsari Beach," Pradhan told ANI. "He fell into a pit while shooting a dance sequence in the water. He was then rescued and taken to Digha hospital, where he was declared dead, while the actress Sweta Misra is reported to be in a stable condition."
Police officials stated that the two actors were performing a dance sequence in knee-deep water when they suddenly slipped into a ditch. Both were immediately rushed to Digha Hospital for medical attention, but despite rescue efforts, Rahul could not be saved.
Production Crew Lacked Required Permissions
In a significant development, police authorities revealed that the production team had not obtained necessary permissions for the shoot at the beach location. "The production crew did not take any necessary permission," Additional SP Gayatri Pradhan emphasized. "The body will be handed over after the completion of the formalities."
Sharing further details of the investigation process, Superintendent of Police Balasore Pratyush Diwakar explained that Talsari police first received information from Digha police about the incident, after which further action was initiated. Authorities from Talsari are now coordinating with Digha police to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
Background of the Deceased Actor
Rahul Arunodoy Banerjee came from a distinguished film and theatre background in Bengal. Born to director Biswanath Banerjee, he began his acting journey at a very young age, participating in numerous stage shows associated with his father's theatre group as a child artist.
He later transitioned to films and gained significant recognition with the 2008 romantic film 'Chirodini Tumi Je Amar', directed by Raj Chakraborty and co-starring actress Priyanka Sarkar. The film proved to be a major commercial success and helped establish Rahul as a prominent face in contemporary Bengali cinema.
