Anees Bazmee's New Directorial Venture Kicks Off in Mumbai
Renowned filmmaker Anees Bazmee is all set to begin shooting his latest directorial project on January 20 in Mumbai. The movie remains untitled for now, but it promises a powerful on-screen pairing with Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan taking on key roles.
Reuniting with Akshay Kumar
In a recent interview, Bazmee opened up about working again with Akshay Kumar. He expressed their mutual admiration and strong professional bond. "We have always maintained a great connection," Bazmee shared. "Even when we weren't collaborating on projects, our friendship stayed strong. When I developed this story, I immediately thought of Akshay ji. He loved the concept and showed tremendous excitement. That's why we're starting production on January 20."
The director confirmed the team hasn't finalized a title yet. "We haven't thought about a name for the film," he stated clearly. "Right now, our complete focus is on the shooting schedule. The title can come later."
Praising Producer Dil Raju
Bazmee spoke warmly about producer Dil Raju, highlighting their long-standing association. "He's an old friend," the filmmaker recalled. "We previously planned a film with Shahid Kapoor that didn't materialize for various reasons. Raju bhai is a wonderful person and a highly respected producer in the South Indian film industry. After our earlier project fell through, I felt determined to make a film with him. So when he approached me for this project, I immediately said yes."
Addressing Remake Speculations
Rumors have circulated suggesting the film might be a remake of 'Sankranthiki Vasthunam' (2025). Bazmee addressed these claims with a measured response. "Such rumors keep floating around in the industry," he noted. "People have said many things about me and my films over the years. I usually don't offer clarifications because the truth eventually emerges. Our film's story does share some similarities with 'Sankranthiki Vasthunam'. Additionally, Dil Raju bhai is producing both projects. What I can confidently say is that we've worked hard on our film, and it's turning out well."
Star-Studded Cast and Genre Blend
Bazmee revealed more details about the impressive ensemble cast. The film features Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Raashii Khanna, Vijay Raaz, Zakir Hussain, Sayaji Shinde, and other talented actors. Audiences can expect Bazmee's signature entertainment mix with plenty of comedy, romance, action sequences, and musical numbers.
