Anupam Kher Issues Urgent Warning Over Fake Social Media Accounts
Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has taken to social media to alert his fans and followers about a growing problem of impersonation. In a video shared on his official Instagram account, Kher directly addressed the issue of fraudulent profiles that are using his name and likeness to deceive people.
Impersonators Using Photos and Videos to Mislead
In the video message, Kher revealed that several fake accounts have been created on Instagram, specifically mentioning handles like AnupamKher30 and AnupamPKher30. These imposters have gone to great lengths to appear authentic by using Kher's profile pictures and videos from his legitimate social media presence.
"My dear friends... Some of my friends have sent me a message that someone has opened my account on Instagram AnupamKher30 AnupamPKher30. They have put my profile pictures and videos. They are sending people requests," Kher explained in the video.
Official Clarification and Safety Advice
The acclaimed actor made it unequivocally clear that he has only one official Instagram account and does not operate any secondary profiles. He expressed concern that even some of his close friends had been confused by these fake accounts, prompting him to make this public clarification.
"I don't have any such account. Ignore them and that's all I wanted to say because some of my close friends have sent me a message asking why I opened another account. So I didn't open it," Kher emphasized, urging everyone to disregard any communication from these fraudulent profiles.
Kher's Recent and Upcoming Projects
Beyond addressing this security concern, Anupam Kher continues to be active in the entertainment industry with significant projects. His latest work is "Tanvi the Great," which marked his return to direction after his 2002 directorial debut "Om Jai Jagadish." The film, released in 2025, features Shubhangi Dutt in the lead role and tells the story of autistic woman Tanvi Raina.
Looking ahead, Kher will next appear in "Khosla Ka Ghosla 2," the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved 2006 film. The project brings together an ensemble cast including Ranvir Shorey, Tara Sharma Saluja, and Kiran Joneja in lead roles, with Prashant Bhatia directing this continuation of the popular franchise.
The Growing Problem of Celebrity Impersonation
This incident highlights the broader issue of celebrity impersonation on social media platforms, where fraudsters create fake profiles to:
- Send phishing messages to unsuspecting followers
- Gather personal information through deceptive interactions
- Potentially solicit money or other favors under false pretenses
- Damage the reputation of public figures through inappropriate behavior
Kher's proactive approach in addressing this problem serves as an important reminder for all social media users to verify the authenticity of accounts before engaging with them, especially when they appear to belong to public figures or celebrities.
