Prabhas' 'The Raja Saab' Gets Andhra Ticket Price Hike: Rs 297 in Single Screens
Andhra Govt Hikes Ticket Prices for Prabhas' 'The Raja Saab'

In a move that highlights the massive anticipation for superstar Prabhas's upcoming film, the Andhra Pradesh government has granted a special ticket price hike for the horror-comedy 'The Raja Saab'. The film, which marks Prabhas's first release after the blockbuster 'Kalki 2898 AD', is scheduled to hit theatres on January 9, 2025, with paid premiere shows beginning a day earlier.

Andhra Pradesh Government's Special Pricing Approval

The state's film exhibition sector is set for a revenue boost as the government has sanctioned increased ticket rates for a limited period. This decision, as reported, considers the large scale of the production and the expected audience demand for the Prabhas-starrer. The revised pricing structure is applicable to both the special paid premiere shows and the regular screenings across Andhra Pradesh.

For single-screen theatres, the ticket price has been raised by Rs 150. This adjustment brings the new cost per seat to Rs 297. On the other hand, audiences in multiplexes will have to pay an additional Rs 200, setting the new price at Rs 377 per ticket. It is crucial to note that this increased rate will be in effect only for the first ten days of the film's theatrical run. Furthermore, the government has permitted the film's distributors to schedule up to five shows per day during this initial period to accommodate the rush.

Premiere Shows and Box Office Expectations

Ahead of the wide release, 'The Raja Saab' will have exclusive paid premiere shows starting on Thursday, January 8. The ticket prices for these premiere screenings have been capped at a maximum of Rs 1000. Industry insiders predict these shows will witness a huge demand, given Prabhas's pan-India fan following. The combination of a popular star, a unique genre, and the government's pricing flexibility sets the stage for a strong opening at the box office in Andhra Pradesh.

All About Prabhas's 'The Raja Saab'

Directed by Maruthi, known for his successful comedies, 'The Raja Saab' ventures into the horror-comedy space. Prabhas essays the role of Raja Saab, a man who, as per the trailer, inherits a mysterious and abandoned haveli (mansion). The narrative revolves around him uncovering the hidden truths and secrets within its walls. Veteran actress Zarina Wahab plays the significant role of his grandmother in the film.

The movie features a strong ensemble cast with Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar in the female lead roles. Adding to the star power, Sanjay Dutt is cast as the main antagonist. The film also boasts of notable performances from seasoned actors like Boman Irani, along with popular comedians Brahmanandam and Vennela Kishore in key roles, promising a blend of scares and laughter.

This temporary price hike model is often employed by state governments for big-ticket releases, aiming to balance the economics for theatre owners and distributors during peak demand periods. For Prabhas fans and general moviegoers in Andhra Pradesh, it means paying a premium to be among the first to experience 'The Raja Saab' on the big screen.
