Akshay Kumar Shares Emotional Childhood Miracle at Vaishno Devi Temple

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, currently promoting his upcoming horror-comedy film 'Bhoot Bangla' with director Priyadarshan after a 14-year gap, has opened up about a deeply personal and miraculous incident from his early childhood. The actor revealed that his very existence and a dramatic recovery from a life-threatening illness are stories his family attributes to divine intervention at the revered Vaishno Devi Temple.

The Prayer for a Naughty Child

During a recent interview, Akshay Kumar recounted how his birth was the direct result of his parents' fervent prayers. "My mother and father prayed at Vaishno Devi, asking for a child. They specifically requested, 'Give us a child, but let him be naughty.' And a year later, I was born," the actor shared. This heartfelt plea set the stage for what would become a family legend of faith and recovery.

A Thanksgiving Trip Turns Critical

Following his first birthday, Akshay's parents embarked on a journey to the temple to express their gratitude. However, the trip quickly turned into a frightening ordeal. "My parents took me along, but on the way, I suddenly fell very ill. I had a high fever, first 103°F, then 104°F, and I became unconscious," Akshay recalled. The situation was dire, with a doctor in Katra advising immediate transfer to Delhi due to limited medical facilities in 1969.

Despite the alarming advice, Akshay's mother demonstrated unwavering faith. She believed, "If Mata Rani (the goddess) has given us this son, then if she wishes, she can take him back. But we won't turn back; we will continue our journey to the temple." This resolute decision led the family to proceed uphill, chanting "Jai Mata Di" as they carried their unconscious infant.

The Miraculous Recovery Inside the Temple

Akshay described the poignant scene: "They had dressed me in a red frock which I still have, and I was unconscious. They bathed me inside the temple, offered prayers, and were crying as they prayed." It was at this moment of despair that something extraordinary occurred.

A stranger approached Akshay's father and remarked, "Your son has a beautiful smile." Upon turning, his father saw Akshay smiling. "And truly, my temperature dropped to 98°F. I was completely fine," the actor added. He reflected on the inexplicable nature of the recovery: "I'm not sure which medicine they gave me, but there was something about the energy there that made me get better on my own."

Context of the Revelation

This emotional revelation comes as Akshay Kumar is actively promoting 'Bhoot Bangla', marking his reunion with acclaimed director Priyadarshan. The film has generated significant anticipation among fans, eager to see the duo collaborate again after over a decade. Akshay's sharing of this personal story adds a layer of depth to his public persona, highlighting the profound impact of faith and family in his life.

The incident underscores a narrative of hope and divine grace that has been cherished within the Kumar family for decades. It serves as a testament to the cultural and spiritual significance of Vaishno Devi in many Indian households, where such stories of miracles are often passed down through generations.
