Akshay Kumar Dashes Hopes for Hera Pheri 3, Reveals Production Stalled
In a candid conversation with journalist Shubhankar Mishra, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has addressed the swirling rumors and speculation surrounding the highly anticipated sequel, Hera Pheri 3. The actor delivered disappointing news to fans, confirming that the film is not moving forward at this time. "As of now, it's not being made," Akshay stated bluntly, putting an end to widespread expectations that the project was finally gaining momentum.
Fans' Disappointment Shared by Actor
When informed that many fans believed issues had been resolved and production was imminent, Akshay reiterated his stance, saying, "No, no, it hasn't happened." He expressed his own shock and disappointment at the situation, admitting, "I'm shocked myself, to be honest." This revelation comes as a blow to audiences who have eagerly awaited the return of the iconic comedy franchise.
Uncertain Future and Behind-the-Scenes Complications
Akshay hinted at ongoing uncertainties, suggesting that prayers might be needed for the project to materialize. "Maybe something will work out... maybe we need to say a few prayers. But as of now, it's not happening," he remarked. He firmly ruled out any possibility of the film going into production in the near future, adding, "No, at least not in the next year."
Addressing speculation that scheduling conflicts or tensions among the original trio—Akshay, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty—were causing delays, the actor clarified that this is not the case. "No, it's not just that. There are many issues," he explained. He pointed out that all three actors are currently collaborating on another project, Welcome to the Jungle, demonstrating their willingness to work together.
Calling Hera Pheri a project close to his heart, Akshay revealed that behind-the-scenes complications are the primary obstacle. "There are some things I can't talk about on camera—agreements and other issues that keep pushing the project back," he admitted, alluding to sensitive contractual and legal matters.
Legal and Production Hurdles Stall the Film
The uncertainty around Hera Pheri 3 is compounded by significant legal and production challenges. The film is currently embroiled in disputes over intellectual property rights and casting decisions, which have severely delayed progress. A major lawsuit has reportedly been filed by Seven Arts International in the Madras High Court, claiming that producer Firoz Nadiadwala does not hold the franchise rights.
Additionally, internal hiccups have plagued the project, including Paresh Rawal briefly stepping away due to contractual disagreements before eventually returning. These legal battles and production issues have created a complex web of obstacles that must be resolved before filming can commence.
Hope for the Future Despite Setbacks
Despite the numerous roadblocks, Akshay remains optimistic that the film will eventually come to fruition. "I think it will happen on its own when the time is right. It will sort itself out. I just hope it happens before we get too old," he said, expressing a desire to see the project materialize while the original cast is still able to participate.
This update underscores the unpredictable nature of film production in Bollywood, where legal disputes and contractual issues can derail even the most beloved franchises. Fans will have to wait patiently as these behind-the-scenes matters are addressed, hoping for a resolution that brings Hera Pheri 3 to the big screen.
