On the occasion of World Red Cross Day, the Merchants Chamber of Uttar Pradesh and the Indian Red Cross Society, Kanpur Nagar, jointly organized a grand event at the Merchant Chamber Hall in Civil Lines on Friday. The function was inaugurated by Jitendra Pratap Singh, District Magistrate and President of the Red Cross Society, along with special guest Dr. Sanjay Singh, Director of Chest Hospital.
Cultural Performances and Magazine Release
During the program, students from Omkareshwar School presented a welcome song and a dance-drama centered on the theme of blood donation, which was highly appreciated by all attendees. The District Magistrate also released a magazine focused on first aid treatment on this occasion.
Keynote Addresses
In his address, the District Magistrate emphasized that no individual should ever hesitate to assist those in need, as this constitutes our true duty and the very message of humanity. Dr. Prasad, an orthopedic specialist and Chairman of the Merchant Chamber’s Health and Lifestyle Committee, stated that the Red Cross is the world’s largest humanitarian organization and its volunteers always play a leading role during any type of disaster. He added that the Merchant Chamber is delighted that everyone has come together to celebrate this event.
Report and Honors
R.K. Saffar, Secretary of the Red Cross, presented a detailed report on the organization and provided information to the public regarding the activities of the Kanpur Red Cross Society. The chief guest was welcomed by Chairman Dr. Umesh Paliwal with the presentation of an Angavastram, while Dr. Sanjay Singh was welcomed by Angad Singh. On this occasion, individuals from both government and non-government sectors working in the field of humanitarian service were also honored with Angavastrams.
