A school in Karnataka's Udupi district is on a unique mission to etch its name in global record books through a spiritual and cultural endeavour. Anandathirtha Vidyalaya, located in Pajaka, Kunjarugiri, is preparing to enter the Golden Book of World Records with a massive collective recitation of a sacred Hindu text.
A Record Attempt for Spiritual Unity
The institution will attempt to set a record for being the first single school to gather the maximum number of students, staff, and parents to recite the 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, known as Purushottama Yoga. Principal Geetha Shashidhar announced this ambitious initiative, highlighting its alignment with the school's foundational vision.
The official registration for this world record attempt was completed over three months ago, setting the stage for the main event. A certified judge from the Golden Book of World Records will be present to verify and authenticate the attempt. The recital is scheduled for December 7 at 3 pm at the Vishweshatheertha Stage on the Anandathirtha Campus.
Holistic Education and Community Participation
This event is not just about setting a record; it reflects the school's core philosophy of imparting Hindu Dharmika Shikshana (religious education) alongside academic excellence. The gathering aims to be a profound moment of devotion, unity, and national cultural pride.
Participation is expected to be vast, encompassing students from play home to degree levels, along with their parents and extended family members. The event will be blessed and graced by dignitaries including Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swami, and school committee officials like president Nagaraj Ballal, vice-president KP Srihari Bhat, treasurer Lakshmi Narayana Upadhya, and secretary Subramanya Samaga.
Extending a Legacy of Excellence
Anandathirtha Vidyalaya is no stranger to achievements. The school has excelled in multiple domains, holding the cultural championship among all CBSE and ICSE schools in Udupi for the past four consecutive years. It has also been the literary champion of the Udupi district for the last two years.
With this world record attempt, the institution aims to extend its legacy of excellence into the spiritual and Dharmika sphere. Principal Shashidhar stated that this initiative is designed to distinguish the school as a truly holistic centre of learning, where cultural roots and modern education grow together.
This unique effort promises to be a landmark event, showcasing community spirit and deep-rooted cultural values on a global platform.
