The Times of India emerged as a standout performer at the Goa Union of Journalists' (GUJ) Journalism Awards for 2023, 2024, and 2025, which were announced on Saturday. The newspaper secured a total of 15 awards across a diverse range of categories, including investigative reporting, rural journalism, page design, photography, and sports reporting.
Major Winners
Rakesh Mundye led the individual accolades, winning four awards in environmental photography, excellence in photojournalism, and page design. Marcus Mergulhao claimed three awards for his work in sports, art, and culture. Gauree Malkarnekar also won three awards, recognized for her contributions to art and culture, environment, and rural reporting. Newton Sequeira earned three awards for investigative journalism and environmental reporting. Sharmila Coutinho secured two of the three awards for excellence in layout and page design.
Special Recognition
TOI's Bicholim correspondent, Rajesh Chodankar, will be honored for his work as a mofussil journalist, highlighting the significance of grassroots reporting.
The GUJ Journalism Awards ceremony is scheduled for next month, where Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao will present the honors.
