Sarah Jessica Parker Eyes Directing After Golden Globes Honour, Reflects on Career
Sarah Jessica Parker Wins Carol Burnett Award at Golden Globes

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker, celebrated for her iconic role in Sex and the City, was honoured with the prestigious 2026 Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes' Golden Eve ceremony. The event, which also saw legendary actress Helen Mirren receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award, was a night of reflection and celebration for Hollywood's finest.

A Night of Recognition and Reflection

Surrounded by her Sex and the City co-stars Kristin Davis, Evan Handler, and David Eigenberg, along with her husband Matthew Broderick and son James Wilkie, Parker accepted the award for her outstanding contributions to television. On the red carpet, she spoke candidly about her journey, expressing immense gratitude for her career.

"I'm feeling great fortune that I was able to sort it all out and carve out a career for myself," Parker told reporters, as per The Hollywood Reporter. She acknowledged her hard work and dedication but remained humbly aware of others' fortunes. "I'm proud of what I've been able to accomplish, but sometimes I'm a little bit heartsick over those who were really talented," she added.

Future Behind the Camera?

With the recent completion of And Just Like That in August, the conversation turned to Parker's future plans. When asked about stepping into the director's chair, she left the door open. "I don't, but I might," she said. Parker explained that while her time has always been occupied, she now has a moment to consider new avenues. "I have a moment now -- well, not really, but sort of, in between some other work, to perhaps consider that. Who knows?"

Her co-star and presenter for the evening, Kristin Davis, shared her own unique experience of life after the show. Davis revealed that she constantly discusses the series with co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Parker, appreciating their work more in retrospect. "I look at them every day and I then discuss them. It's very trippy, but it's kind of nice because I'm really so amazed by everybody's work," Davis said.

Honouring a Legend and Looking Ahead

The ceremony was a star-studded affair with appearances by Carol Burnett herself, Harrison Ford, Viola Davis, Ted Danson, and Colman Domingo. The other major honouree, Dame Helen Mirren, described receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award as an immense honour. She ranked it among her three great Hollywood moments, alongside getting a star on the Walk of Fame and winning an Oscar.

The 83rd annual Golden Globes, hosted by Nikki Glaser, are set to air on Sunday on CBS and Paramount+. The Golden Eve special set a celebratory tone for the main event, highlighting careers built on talent, fortune, and enduring legacy.
