Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards 2026 Concludes with Grand Celebration

The 21st edition of the prestigious Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) 2026 reached its spectacular conclusion with the Awards Night held at the iconic Kamani Auditorium in New Delhi. This event marked the culmination of a vibrant week-long festival dedicated to celebrating the rich tapestry of Indian theatre, which ran from March 19 to March 25, 2026.

A Festival of Diverse Performances and Voices

Organized through a collaboration between the Mahindra Group and Teamwork Arts, the festival presented an impressive array of theatrical works. From an overwhelming pool of 422 entries submitted from over 100 cities across 20 Indian states, a distinguished panel shortlisted ten exceptional productions for the final showcase. These selected works represented a remarkable linguistic diversity, performed in approximately 60 languages and dialects, truly reflecting the cultural mosaic of the nation.

The festival venues, Kamani Auditorium and the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts, served as dynamic stages for these productions. Audiences were treated to a compelling mix of themes, ranging from ancient mythology and classic literature to sharp political commentary and pressing contemporary issues, demonstrating the multifaceted nature of modern Indian theatre.
