The Western Command of the Border Security Force (BSF) held a distinguished ceremony this Wednesday to honour the dedication and service of its personnel. The event, an Investiture Ceremony, took place at the BSF Western Command campus located in Lakhnaur, Mohali.
Dignitaries and Honours at the Ceremony
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Gulab Chand Kataria, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory. Several other prominent figures from the civil and police administration of the Tricity region were also in attendance to witness the solemn occasion.
During the event, a total of 24 individuals were recognized for their exceptional contributions. The honourees included officers, subordinate officers, and other ranks from the force, alongside retired BSF personnel. Each was conferred with the prestigious Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Recognising Exemplary Service and Sacrifice
In his address to the gathering, Satish S Khandare, the Additional Director General of BSF Western Command, spoke about the force's illustrious history. He highlighted the BSF's role during Operation Sindoor and paid heartfelt tributes to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice while performing their duty for the nation.
The Police Medal for Meritorious Service is a significant award presented to personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces and state police departments. It is specifically reserved for those who have completed more than 18 years of outstanding and unblemished service, making it a mark of consistent dedication and integrity.
