Bigg Boss Malayalam 7 Winner Anumol Sets the Record Straight on PR Controversy
In her first interview after a triumphant victory, actor-anchor Anumol, the winner of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7, has directly addressed the swirling rumours about an expensive public relations campaign that allegedly secured her win. The new champion emotionally refuted claims of a massive financial investment in her image, setting the record straight on what really happened behind the scenes.
The Rs 16 Lakh Allegation: What Anumol Really Said
When questioned about speculation that she paid a staggering Rs 16 lakh for a PR team to manage her narrative outside the Bigg Boss house, Anumol gave a candid response to Asianet. "Many people are saying that I won this title spending Rs 16 lakhs on various PR teams. That's not true. I don't have that kind of money," she stated firmly.
She explained that the concept of PR support was new to her. "I was informed about this PR aspect just before entering the show. I was told that everyone who participates in Bigg Boss has PR support. So, I got a bit scared," Anumol revealed. This led her to inquire about the costs, where she was quoted Rs 15 lakh for a comprehensive campaign.
However, Anumol made a different choice. "I didn't choose that and went for the Rs 1 lakh option," she clarified. She detailed the payment plan, having paid Rs 50,000 as an advance, with the remaining Rs 50,000 to be paid after her victory. She expressed confusion about the origin of the inflated Rs 16 lakh story, emphatically stating, "This is the only truth."
Hard Work Over Hype: Anumol's Winning Formula
Anumol was quick to shift the focus from external campaigns to her internal journey and effort. She asserted that her victory was earned through perseverance, not purchased through publicity. "I really worked hard for this trophy. I have suffered so much in that house," she shared, reminding everyone that Bigg Boss is always watching the contestants' every move.
While she openly admitted to having PR assistance, she normalized it by pointing out that it is a common practice for contestants. "I have no issue admitting that I do have PR assistance, like every other contestant in the show," she said. However, she reiterated her financial constraints, adding, "But I don't have Rs 15 or 16 lakh in my hand to pay for a PR campaign. If that was the case, I would not have even come to participate in this program."
Genuineness is Key, Not Drama
Beyond the controversy, Anumol also reflected on the essential qualities needed to win the Bigg Boss title. Contrary to the popular belief that constant drama is necessary, she championed authenticity. "I don't think drama is a must for someone to be a winner. You just need to be genuine in order to win in this game," she opined.
She explained that her established public persona made it impossible to fake her behavior. "Everyone knows my basic nature since I have some visibility due to my profession. So if I suddenly start engaging in drama, people will easily figure it out. So I just remained the same Anumol from the start to this very moment." This commitment to her true self, she believes, ultimately resonated with the audience and paved her path to lifting the trophy on Sunday, November 10, 2025.
