Trilateral Academic Partnership Forged Between Indian and Nepalese Universities

A significant trilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) was formally established on Monday, linking three prominent academic institutions: Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS) in Prayagraj, the University of Ladakh, and Tribhuvan University from Nepal. The signing ceremony was a highlight of the international conference titled ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’, hosted at the SHUATS campus.

Strategic Focus on Development and Research

The agreement outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration across several critical domains. Key areas of cooperation include technology development, skill enhancement initiatives, policy research, and capacity building programs. According to representatives from the institutions, this partnership is strategically designed to tackle emerging global challenges while significantly strengthening academic and research ties.

The MoU aims to foster innovation and knowledge exchange, creating a robust platform for joint ventures in education and development.

Dignitaries and Signatories Present at the Event

The signing took place in the presence of distinguished academic leaders. Representing the University of Ladakh were Vice-Chancellor Saket Kushwaha, Director Dorje Namgyal, and faculty members Mehboob Ali and Mohammed Raf. Tribhuvan University's delegation included Kishor C. Dahal, serving as Dean, and academic representative Kapil Kafle.

From the host institution, SHUATS, notable attendees were Biswaroop Mehra, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration), and Ramakant Dubey, Director of Development and Public Relations. Their presence underscored the commitment of all parties to this international academic alliance.

Expected Outcomes and Future Prospects

Mukesh Maurya, the Organising Secretary of the conference, expressed optimism about the collaboration's potential impact. He stated that this trilateral agreement is anticipated to make substantial contributions to research and development efforts. Furthermore, it is expected to promote and sustain long-term academic partnerships among the three universities, enhancing their global standing and educational output.

This initiative aligns with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047, emphasizing international cooperation in higher education and innovation.
