Prakasam University's Long-Awaited Permanent Campus Gets Green Light in Ongole

The persistent aspiration for Andhra Kesari Prakasam University to establish its own dedicated campus with permanent buildings is now on the verge of materialization. This follows the decisive approval granted by the state government, which has officially sanctioned the proposal after considerable anticipation.

Strategic Land Acquisition and Project Initiation

University authorities have successfully pinpointed appropriate land on the outskirts of Ongole and have commenced the necessary procedures to formally launch this significant project. The envisioned building complexes are projected to dramatically enhance higher education opportunities for students across Prakasam district. Currently, these students predominantly rely on private institutions, as the university has been operating from temporary, rented facilities since its inception.

This governmental clearance represents a pivotal milestone for the district, where appeals for a comprehensive, fully-equipped university campus have echoed for numerous years. Prakasam University was originally established in 2022, following its separation from Acharya Nagarjuna University. However, despite its formation, financial allocations for a permanent campus had remained unapproved until this recent development.

Addressing Educational Migration and Infrastructure Deficits

Consequently, the absence of sufficient local infrastructure compelled many students to relocate to adjacent districts to pursue higher education. Officials have confirmed that the previously stalled land allocation process, hindered by various administrative and technical challenges, has now been conclusively resolved. With the government's formal endorsement, preliminary groundwork for the project is anticipated to start imminently.

In addition to the primary campus area, specific plots have been designated for academic structures and administrative offices. Comprehensive blueprints are currently being developed to ensure the infrastructure aligns with future academic demands and advanced research prerequisites.

Phased Construction and Expanded Academic Offerings

University Vice-Chancellor Dr. DVR Murthy announced that construction on the administrative and hostel complexes will commence shortly. The administrative block is planned to encompass 30,000 square feet, while the hostel complex will cover 10,000 square feet. Furthermore, the university has secured authorization to establish dedicated pharmacy and engineering colleges as constituent units, with separate building complexes planned for each institution.

"The construction will be undertaken in a phased manner," emphasized Dr. Murthy, outlining the systematic approach to realizing this educational hub. The initiative is set to provide a diverse array of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, complemented by state-of-the-art research facilities, thereby fostering a robust academic environment in the region.
