In a remarkable display of academic excellence, female students have overwhelmingly dominated the list of gold medallists for the upcoming fifth convocation of Patliputra University (PPU) in Patna. The university has announced the recipients based on cumulative grade point average (CGPA), revealing that girls have secured an impressive majority of the top honours.
Female Students Lead the Academic Charge
The data released by the university is striking. Out of a total of 31 gold medals awarded to postgraduate students for the academic session 2023-25, a commanding 22 have been won by girl students. This significant achievement highlights their consistent performance and growing prominence in higher education. The university registrar, Abu Bakar, described this dominance as a positive reflection of the students' dedication and the increasing participation of women in advanced studies.
Convocation Details and Registration Process
The prestigious award ceremony is scheduled to be held on January 29 at the S K Memorial Hall in Patna. The Governor of Bihar and university chancellor, Arif Mohammed Khan, will grace the event as the chief guest. In addition to honouring the gold medallists, the university will also felicitate PhD awardees who received their degrees up to December 31, 2025.
PPU Examination Controller Manoj Kumar outlined the registration process for eligible students. Online registration for the convocation is open on the university's official website, www.ppup.ac.in, from January 8 to 15. Students are strongly advised to complete the process within this stipulated period. Kumar emphasized that detailed guidelines regarding registration, certificate issuance, and ceremony participation are available on the website, urging attendees to check official notifications regularly to avoid any last-minute issues.
College-Wise Performance and Event Significance
The distribution of gold medals across affiliated colleges showcases a competitive academic landscape. Students from the city-based A N College led the tally by securing six gold medals. They were followed closely by four medals each from the College of Commerce, Arts and Science; J D Women’s College, Patna; and Nalanda College, Biharsharif. Furthermore, B D College, Patna and R L S Y College, Bakhtiyarpur each bagged three medals.
