Parul University marked a significant milestone with its grand 9th Convocation ceremony, bidding an emotional farewell to the graduating batch of 2025. The event was a powerful convergence of academic achievement and national inspiration, bringing together thousands of hopeful graduates with some of India's most celebrated leaders and icons.
A Grand Celebration of Academic Excellence
The processional entrance was a poignant moment, symbolizing the conclusion of the students' university journey and the exciting beginning of their next life chapter. This year, the university conferred degrees upon more than 16,000 students. The ceremony itself was attended by 12,000 graduates from all disciplines, along with a massive gathering of over 23,000 guests, including proud parents, friends, and family members.
The convocation was graced by distinguished personalities who served as chief guest and guests of honour. The dignitaries included Harsh Sanghvi, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Deputy CM of Gujarat; Olympic boxing legend MC Mary Kom; entrepreneur and Shark Tank India judge Vineeta Singh; and tennis sensation Sania Mirza. Each shared their unique wisdom and encouragement with the graduating class.
Honouring Achievers and Social Initiatives
A key highlight was the felicitation of top academic performers. The celebrations spotlighted 104 Gold Medalists and 44 Certificate of Merit awardees. The prestigious President’s Medal was awarded to 3 distinguished alumni for bringing remarkable honour to the university through their professional feats, and to 3 startups for their entrepreneurial spirit. Furthermore, a distinguished cohort of 135 PhD scholars received awards for their outstanding research and academic excellence.
The university also showcased its commitment to social impact through a special initiative. In a move supporting rural empowerment and indigenous craft, Parul University collaborated with women artisans to produce more than 16,000 handcrafted Khadi scarves for the graduating students. This project provided income and skill enhancement for the artisans, while also preserving India's Khadi heritage and advancing the 'Vocal for Local' and 'Make in India' campaigns.
Inspirational Speeches from National Icons
The ceremony was electrified by motivational addresses from the esteemed guests. MC Mary Kom, the Olympic boxing champion, emphasized the importance of self-built confidence. "Confidence is something we cannot take from others, we cannot buy it. You have to build it on your own," she advised. She reminded graduates that earning a degree was a major achievement, but marked only the beginning. "Now the real challenges begin, and what matters most is how you overcome them. Your future is just starting," she said.
Vineeta Singh infused the gathering with entrepreneurial energy. She framed failure as a necessary stepping stone, stating, "Failure is the entry fee you need to pay for success. We have to pay it all the time." She encouraged students to value the journey over the destination and to remember their roots in a nation built on grit and innovation.
Sania Mirza spoke on dedication, balance, and resilience. "It is important to always remember that no matter how many failures you face, no matter how many rejections you face; there will always be a next day as long as you want one," she shared, crediting sports for this life lesson. She also urged students to respect their parents and to boldly pursue their dreams as the future of the country.
Dr. Devanshu Patel, President of Parul University, delivered a keynote address that resonated with hope and perseverance. He encouraged graduates to hold onto belief even in uncertainty, reminding them that growth takes time. His powerful message to the class was: "Wherever life takes you, carry this belief with you: 'Yahan Possible Hai'. Your dreams are possible. Your journey is valid. Your future is still unfolding."
The extraordinary celebration left students filled with a mix of heartfelt emotions—joy for completing one major chapter and anticipation for the journey ahead. Through this successful 9th convocation, Parul University reaffirmed its mission to empower young minds and develop future leaders poised to make meaningful contributions to the world.
