In a significant community outreach initiative, the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) successfully conducted a large-scale health camp on its campus this Sunday. The event, timed with the eve of National Youth Day and National Pharmacist Day, provided medical consultations to over 500 students and local residents.
A Gathering of Medical Expertise
The camp was powered by a dedicated team of 28 specialist doctors who conducted thorough examinations. The occasion was graced by Dr. Suresh Singhvi, associate director of the liver transplant surgery department at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, as the chief guest. CUSB Vice-Chancellor K N Singh presided over the proceedings, which were formally inaugurated by Gaya’s senior orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. S P Singh. The health drive was organised in collaboration with the Lions Club of Gaya.
Celebrating Medical Progress and Preventive Care
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Suresh Singhvi shed light on the remarkable strides in Indian healthcare. He emphasized that recent advancements in medical science have transformed treatment protocols, making many once-incurable diseases manageable. Complex liver and stomach-related ailments, including successful liver transplants, are now routinely performed in the country by skilled medical professionals.
However, Dr. Singhvi strongly advocated for prevention over cure. He stressed that adopting a balanced and disciplined lifestyle is key to warding off both minor and major health issues. Sharing his personal regimen, he revealed that practicing yoga for half an hour daily has kept him free from serious illness and medication for the past four decades. He advised the youth present that a healthy body and mind are fundamental to life's success, with yoga being immensely beneficial.
University's Commitment to Community Wellness
In his presidential address, Vice-Chancellor K N Singh outlined the camp's alignment with CUSB’s “campus for community” motto. The primary aim was to motivate the university fraternity and neighbouring communities to prioritise their well-being. He called upon students to draw inspiration from Swami Vivekananda's ideals and incorporate daily yoga and exercise into their routines to maintain fitness and health.
The mega camp served as a dual platform: it provided immediate, accessible healthcare to hundreds while powerfully disseminating the message of preventive healthcare and the proven benefits of yoga, aligning perfectly with the spirit of National Youth Day.
