The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal is set to celebrate a significant milestone as it hosts its 23rd annual convocation ceremony this Friday. The event will recognize the remarkable academic achievements of its students, with a special focus on honoring top performers and distinguished contributions to science and industry.
A Grand Celebration of Academic Excellence
During the prestigious ceremony, a total of 1,913 students will receive their hard-earned degrees. The graduating class includes 953 BTech students, 556 MTech students, 149 MSc students, 38 MBA students, and 56 MCA students. This diverse group represents the institute's commitment to producing skilled professionals across multiple disciplines.
Academic excellence will be particularly rewarded, with 11 exceptional students receiving gold medals for their outstanding performance. The institute will also confer 142 PhD degrees, marking a significant contribution to India's research and development landscape.
Honoring Distinguished Leaders and Top Performers
In a notable first for the institution, Dr. Samir V Kamat, Chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), will be honored with the Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa). This prestigious recognition acknowledges his immense contribution to developing indigenous systems and advanced technologies for India's armed forces.
Another distinguished honoree, N Venu, Managing Director of Hitachi India, will receive the Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) for his instrumental role in driving India's secure and sustainable energy transformation initiatives.
The ceremony will feature Anand Ramamoorthy, Vice President and Managing Director of Micron India, as the chief guest. BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Cyient, will also grace the occasion with his presence, adding to the event's significance.
Recognizing Academic Brilliance
The convocation will highlight academic merit through special awards. The top performer from each engineering branch will receive the Roll of Honour gold medal, while the overall highest achiever will be honored with the director's gold medal, the institute's most prestigious student award.
