Nirma University Celebrates 34th Convocation, Honors 2,936 Graduates
Nirma University in Ahmedabad marked a significant academic milestone on Wednesday, hosting its 34th annual convocation ceremony. The event saw a total of 2,936 students being conferred with degrees, embarking on the next chapter of their professional journeys.
Degrees and Distinctions Awarded
The university recognized the academic achievements of its diverse student body. The degrees were distributed among 50 PhD scholars, 1,055 postgraduates, and 1,831 undergraduate students. In a celebration of academic excellence, 63 medals were awarded to 56 students for their exceptional performance across various disciplines.
The Imperative of Lifelong Learning in an AI-Driven World
The ceremony's chief guest, Dr Neville G Pinto, President of the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, delivered a powerful address centered on the demands of the modern era. He stated that the world is transforming at an unprecedented pace, fueled by technology, artificial intelligence, and global interconnections.
"What will set you apart won’t be how much you know, but how creatively you can think and how boldly you can innovate," Dr Pinto advised the graduating class. He elaborated that the most successful future organizations will be those that seamlessly integrate human insight with machine intelligence, with each amplifying the capabilities of the other.
He issued a clear directive to the new graduates, emphasizing that education does not conclude with a degree. "Lifelong learning won’t be optional; it will be essential," he asserted, noting that while knowledge remains the currency of success, its value is dependent on one's commitment to keeping it current amidst rapid change.
Words of Wisdom from University Leadership
Presiding over the event, Dr Karsanbhai K Patel, President of Nirma University, encouraged the graduates to become responsible and proactive citizens. He underscored the importance of service to the community and shared a fundamental principle for achievement.
"Self-discipline is a must in every aspect of life. There is no shortcut to achievement. Only self-discipline and hard work can take you to your cherished goal," Dr Patel told the assembled students and guests, imparting a timeless lesson for both professional and personal growth.
The convocation served as both a recognition of past accomplishments and a guiding light for the future, preparing a new generation of leaders to navigate and shape an ever-evolving global landscape.
