The admission process for super-speciality seats in medical colleges across India has encountered an unexpected and significant delay. Authorities have abruptly postponed the crucial second round of allotments, citing a sudden and substantial increase in the number of available seats as the primary reason for this disruption.

According to the original schedule established by the All India admission committee, the first round of super-speciality seat allotments concluded successfully on March 18. Candidates were then instructed to carefully fill and submit their preferences for the second round between March 29 and April 4. The subsequent seat allotment was firmly scheduled for April 5 and 6, with results slated for declaration on April 7. This was to be followed by a critical window for fee payment and admission confirmation from April 8 to 16.
However, in a surprising development announced on Friday, the central admission authority revealed that new seats are likely to be approved and added to the national pool. Consequently, all candidates have been formally instructed to unlock their previously submitted choices and refill them entirely to account for the newly available options. This procedural change has effectively halted the ongoing admission timeline.

The scale of this administrative adjustment is considerable. The issue directly impacts approximately 120 super-speciality seats within the state of Gujarat and affects over 8,000 seats across the entire nation.
