First-year law students at Lucknow University are facing a major roadblock in their academic journey, as persistent technical glitches on the university's Samarth e-governance portal are preventing them from completing crucial examination formalities. With a fast-approaching deadline, the situation is causing significant stress and uncertainty among the student body.
Portal Malfunctions Create Registration Chaos
The core of the problem lies in the Samarth portal's failure to process new registrations. Students attempting to complete their exam-related procedures are consistently met with error messages. Despite entering correct and verified details—including enrolment numbers and dates of birth—the system rejects their submissions, often flashing an 'invalid details' notification.
The last date for completing these mandatory formalities is December 20, making the ongoing technical failure a race against time. "We are meticulously following all instructions, but the portal keeps rejecting our details. With the deadline so close, it is incredibly stressful for all of us," shared Preeti Verma, a first-semester law student.
Students' Frustration Mounts Amid Lack of Resolution
The issue appears to be widespread, affecting a large portion of the incoming law batch. Students have tried troubleshooting on their own, experimenting with different devices and internet connections, but to no avail.
"Almost everyone in our batch is facing the identical problem. There is no clear guidance or immediate solution from the university administration," stated Dhruv Sharma, another affected student. The lack of a reliable fix has amplified their anxiety. Indu Gupta echoed these concerns, saying, "Even when we reach out to the university, we are simply told to wait or try again later. The clock is ticking, and the fear of missing the exam deadline is very real."
In response to the growing crisis, the students have collectively submitted a written complaint to the Controller of Examinations, urging for urgent intervention.
University's Response and the Path Forward
When contacted, the university administration acknowledged the problem. LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava assured that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness. "The technical team is already working to resolve the issues with the Samarth portal quickly," Srivastava stated.
However, with the December 20 cutoff looming, students remain in a state of limbo. The incident highlights the challenges educational institutions face in relying on digital platforms for critical processes and the need for robust technical support and contingency plans, especially during high-stakes periods like examinations.
The resolution of these technical issues is now eagerly awaited by hundreds of law students whose academic progression hinges on a functional exam registration system.
