In a significant move to blend traditional knowledge with academic rigor, Lucknow University (LU) has announced the launch of two new postgraduate courses: MA Priesthood and MA Vastu Shastra. These programs, set to commence in the upcoming academic session, aim to provide structured education in ancient Indian practices, catering to growing interest in spiritual and cultural studies.

Course Details and Structure

Both the MA Priesthood and MA Vastu Shastra courses will be offered under the self-finance category, with a fee structure of Rs 15,080 per semester. Each program has allocated 30 seats, ensuring focused learning environments. The syllabi have been meticulously designed by professors from the university's astrology department, adhering to UGC guidelines while emphasizing practical applications alongside theoretical foundations.

MA Priesthood: A Pathway to Global Opportunities

The MA Priesthood course delves into the intricate rituals and karmakand practices associated with life events from birth to death. Students will explore nitya karma, naimittika karma, and kamya karma as outlined in dharma shastras, with hands-on training in ceremonies such as rudrabhishek, chandi path, and bhagwat katha. According to department coordinator Shyamlesh Kumar Tiwari, this degree not only preserves cultural heritage but also opens doors for graduates to secure visas for countries with substantial Hindu populations, where they can serve as priests in temples. He emphasized that the certification acts as authentic proof of training from a recognized institution, enhancing employability in religious roles abroad.

The curriculum includes study of classical texts such as samarangana sutradhara, maimatam, vishwakarma prakash, and muhurta chintamani, along with guidance on auspicious timing for construction and related rituals.
