Karnataka Extends PG Medical Admissions After 783 Seats Remain Vacant

In a significant development following reports of vacant postgraduate medical seats, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced a one-day extension for admissions. This decision comes after it was revealed that a substantial number of 783 PG medical seats are still unoccupied across the state.

Last Chance for Unallotted Candidates

Islamuddin Gadyal, the administrative officer of KEA, clarified that this special round is exclusively for candidates who were not allotted seats in any of the previous admission rounds. This move aims to fill the remaining vacancies and ensure that medical colleges operate at full capacity.

Strict Application Process and Timeline

Candidates interested in availing this opportunity must adhere to a strict procedure and timeline:

  • Application Submission: Candidates are required to visit the KEA office located in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, before 3:00 PM on March 11.
  • Fee Payment: They must bring a Demand Draft (DD) or cheque for the full course fee of their preferred medical program.
  • Document Verification: Only those who submit the DD along with all original documents will be permitted to enter their college and course preferences between 12:30 PM and 4:00 PM on March 11.

Seat Allotment and Reporting Deadlines

The KEA has outlined a tight schedule for the allotment process and subsequent reporting:

  1. Result Announcement: The seat allotment results will be declared at 7:00 PM on March 11.
  2. College Reporting: Candidates who receive a seat must report to the allotted medical college by 5:30 PM on March 12 to secure their admission.

This extension provides a crucial window for aspiring medical professionals to secure a place in Karnataka's postgraduate medical programs, addressing the issue of vacant seats that could impact medical education and healthcare services in the region.
