IP University Integrates CUET Scores into B.Tech Admission Process
In a significant update to its admission policy, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IP University) has announced that admissions to its B.Tech programmes will now consider scores from the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). This change assigns CUET scores second priority in the selection process, marking a notable expansion in the university's use of national-level entrance examinations.
Priority Structure for B.Tech Admissions
The first preference for B.Tech admissions at IP University will continue to be reserved for National Level Tests, specifically JEE Main Paper One. This longstanding policy ensures that candidates with strong performance in this widely recognized engineering entrance exam receive top consideration. The introduction of CUET scores as a secondary criterion aims to broaden access and provide additional pathways for aspiring engineering students.
IP University already utilizes CUET scores for admission to more than three dozen undergraduate programmes across various disciplines. In these cases, priority is typically given either to National Level Tests or to entrance examinations conducted directly by the university, depending on the specific programme requirements.
Extended CUET Application Deadline and Admission Portal
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the last date for applying to CUET UG until February 26. In response to this extension, IP University has advised students seeking admission to any undergraduate programme through CUET scores to complete their CUET UG application within this revised timeline to ensure eligibility.
Furthermore, the university has activated its online admission portal for undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes for the 2026-27 academic session, starting from February 2. Applicants across all streams can now register through this designated portal, streamlining the application process for a wide range of academic pursuits.
Expansive Academic Offerings and New Initiatives
IP University offers an impressive array of educational opportunities, with more than 43,000 seats available through over 130 affiliated colleges and university schools. Admissions span more than 230 academic programmes, covering cutting-edge disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Data Science, Law, Medicine, and Design.
For the current academic year, the university has introduced more than two dozen new courses, reflecting its commitment to innovation and relevance in higher education. Additionally, nine new institutions have been affiliated with the university, further expanding its reach and capacity.
The online application portal is accessible via the official website at www.ipu.ac.in, where the admission brochure detailing eligibility criteria, seat distribution, and counselling procedures is also available. As in previous years, applicants are required to pay a one-time application fee of Rs 2500 at the time of submission, which covers both registration and participation in counselling sessions.
Diverse Examination Criteria for Programme Admissions
Beyond the university's Common Entrance Test (CET), admissions to several programmes at IP University will be determined through a variety of national-level examinations. These include JEE Main, NEET, CAT, CMAT, NIMCET, and CLAT, catering to fields such as engineering, medicine, management, and law.
The university has also clarified that vacant seats in certain undergraduate and postgraduate programmes will be filled based on CUET scores, providing a flexible mechanism to optimize enrolment. Candidates are strongly advised to review the admission brochure available on the university's website for comprehensive information regarding eligibility, entrance requirements, and the detailed admission schedule.
