The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has officially launched the much-anticipated Inter-IIT Cultural Meet 8.0, marking a grand celebration of artistic talent and cultural unity across the prestigious IIT fraternity. The opening ceremony set a vibrant tone for the national festival dedicated to art, expression, and creative collaboration.

Auspicious Start with Distinguished Guests

The inaugural event commenced on a traditional note with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a soulful rendition of Saraswati Vandana, seeking divine blessings for the days of artistic festivities ahead. The ceremony was graced by an esteemed panel of dignitaries. Padma Shri awardee and celebrated Hindustani classical vocalist, Soma Ghosh, attended as the chief guest. She was joined by Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, alongside Prof. Braj Bhushan (Deputy Director), Prof. Pratik Sen (Dean of Students' Affairs), and Prof. Sagar Chakraborty (Chairman, CMAC).

In her address to the gathered students and faculty, Soma Ghosh emphasized the crucial role educational institutions play in safeguarding India's immense artistic heritage. She inspired the future generation to embrace innovation and express themselves with confidence and fearlessness, blending tradition with contemporary creativity.

Captivating Performances and Official Opening

The audience was treated to a mesmerizing Kathak performance by artists Kratika Singh and Priyanka. Their act beautifully showcased the intricate rhythm, expressive storytelling, and technical finesse inherent in this classical dance form, leaving the spectators enthralled.

The formal proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Sagar Chakraborty, who acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the organizers, volunteers, and all the participating contingents from various IITs. With this, Inter-IIT Cultural Meet 8.0 was declared officially open at IIT Kanpur.
