IIT-Patna Achieves Record Placement Milestone in 2026 Season
In a remarkable turnaround from previous years, the Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT-P) has reported exceptional results for its 2026 placement season. The institute successfully secured a total of 582 job offers from more than 215 participating companies, marking a significant achievement in campus recruitment. This diverse pool of recruiters included emerging startups, multinational corporations, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), reflecting broad industry confidence in the institute's talent.
Notable Surge in Public Sector Undertaking Recruitment
A comparative analysis between the 2025 and 2026 placement cycles reveals a clear and promising shift in PSU hiring trends at IIT-Patna. While the 2025 session featured eight major PSUs such as BPCL, HPCL, BEL, Jeevika, EIL, Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), CDAC, and Mecon, the 2026 season has already recorded participation from at least nine PSUs, with placements still ongoing. The notable new additions include prestigious organizations like the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Although traditional sectors like oil and infrastructure remain highly relevant, campus recruitment is witnessing a noticeable shift towards technology, core engineering, and advanced computing organizations. This trend underscores the evolving demands of the job market and the institute's alignment with industry needs.
Expanding Corporate Network and New Recruiter Influx
The institute is successfully expanding its corporate network, building on the momentum from previous years. The 2024-25 season welcomed approximately 10 new companies for campus recruitment. In a significant development, the 2026 session recorded an approximate 50% increase in visits from first-time recruiters during phase I alone.
