Wardha's Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University is gearing up for a grand celebration of its legacy. The university will mark its 29th foundation day with a four-day event from January 7 to January 10, packed with academic discussions, cultural displays, and special ceremonies.
Chief Guest and Inaugural Highlights
Vice-Chancellor Kumud Sharma, addressing a press conference, outlined the key events. The formal foundation day ceremony is scheduled for January 8. The event will be graced by Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, as the chief guest. Adding to the prestige, former Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' will attend as the guest of honour.
Executive council member Surendra Dubey and senior journalist Anant Vijay Saraswat have been invited as special guests for the occasion. The celebrations aim to reflect on the university's journey and its role in promoting Hindi globally.
A Line-Up of Academic and Cultural Events
The festivities kick off on January 7 at 5 PM with the inauguration of a national book fair at the Bodhisattva Babasaheb Ambedkar Samata Bhavan. Renowned writer Kshama Kaul will inaugurate the book fair, offering a treasure trove for literature enthusiasts.
From January 8 to January 10, the university, in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan, Lucknow, will host an international seminar. The theme for this significant academic gathering is 'Unity in Indian Literature', promising insightful deliberations from scholars.
Showcasing Traditional Sport
Adding a dynamic cultural flavour to the anniversary, a Mallakhamb performance is set for January 9 at the university sports ground from 6 PM. This demonstration of the traditional Indian sport will highlight the blend of physical prowess and cultural heritage that the institution values.
The four-day program underscores the university's commitment to being a vibrant centre for Hindi language, literature, and culture. It serves as an annual platform to connect with students, academics, and the public, reinforcing its founding principles as it steps into its 30th year.
