Gulbarga University Celebrates 43rd Annual Convocation with Prestigious Honors
Gulbarga University marked a significant milestone on Tuesday with its 43rd annual convocation ceremony, held at the Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan on the Jnana Ganga campus in Kalaburagi. The event brought together thousands of students, faculty members, and distinguished guests to recognize academic excellence and honor contributions to society.
Honorary Doctorates Awarded to Distinguished Personalities
Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot presided over the ceremony, conferring honorary doctorates upon three notable individuals for their exceptional service. Former minister PGR Sindhia received recognition for his substantial political and social contributions, while former minister Murugesh Nirani was honored for his dedicated social service. Activist Kedara Lingayya Hiremath was awarded for his unwavering commitment to social causes, highlighting the university's appreciation for public service.

The convocation shone a spotlight on student achievements, with 77 outstanding performers receiving a remarkable total of 172 gold medals. Channamma, a Kannada studies student, emerged as the star of the event by securing an impressive 11 gold medals, earning her the affectionate nickname "Golden Girl." Other top achievers included:

- Surekha from MBA program with 8 medals
- Shamim Rafat from Political Science with 6 medals
- Deepa from Social Work with 6 medals

The university awarded PhD degrees to 123 research scholars across various faculties, demonstrating its commitment to advanced research and academic growth. The distribution included:
