Fire Breaks Out at Prestigious Delhi University
A significant fire incident occurred at the auditorium of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University located in Delhi's Dwarka area on Sunday morning. According to official reports from the Delhi Fire Services, the blaze was first reported at 10:42 am at the university's Sector-16 campus, prompting immediate emergency response.
Rapid Firefighting Response
The Delhi Fire Services deployed substantial resources to combat the flames effectively. The response team included two water tenders, three water bowsers, one skylift, and one quick response vehicle that were rushed to the scene immediately after the alert. Firefighters worked diligently to control the situation and successfully extinguished the main flames by 11:20 am, approximately 38 minutes after the initial report.
Following the containment of the primary fire, cooling operations continued to ensure complete safety and prevent any potential re-ignition. The efficient response from fire authorities played a crucial role in managing what could have been a more severe incident.
No Injuries Reported, Investigation Underway
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported from the university fire incident. The quick response time and effective coordination between emergency services contributed to preventing any harm to students, staff, or faculty members.
Authorities have confirmed that the cause of the fire remains undetermined at this stage. Investigators are examining the auditorium premises to identify what triggered the blaze and assess the extent of damage to the university property.
This incident follows another tragic fire event in Delhi where four people lost their lives in a blaze at a four-storey building in Tigri Extension of Sangam Vihar. That separate incident, which occurred earlier, also involved deployment of fire tenders and has prompted police investigation.
The back-to-back fire incidents in the national capital have raised concerns about fire safety measures in both educational institutions and residential buildings across Delhi.
