In a significant move for higher education in Uttar Pradesh, Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) in Lucknow has officially announced its admission pathway for the upcoming academic year. The university will admit students to all its undergraduate programmes for the 2025-2026 session exclusively through the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET-UG).
Admission Process and Key Dates
The application process for CUET-UG is already live, and aspiring candidates must act swiftly. According to the university's official spokesperson, Yashwant Virodai, the final date to fill out the application for admission on the official CUET website is January 30. Candidates are advised to visit the National Testing Agency (NTA) portal and apply well within the deadline, paying close attention while selecting their preferred subjects.
Prof Sanjay Singh, the Vice-Chancellor of DSMNRU, outlined the two-step process for prospective students. First, candidates must appear for the CUET-UG exam and select DSMNRU as a preferred university in their application form. Subsequently, after the declaration of CUET results, students must undertake a separate registration on the university's own portal for the counselling process, which will lead to the final seat allotment.
Seat Matrix and Inclusive Policy
The university offers a total of 1,808 seats spread across 25 different undergraduate courses. A standout feature of DSMNRU's admission policy is its strong commitment to inclusivity. The university has mandated a 50% reservation for students with disabilities, aligning with its core mission as a national rehabilitation university. This policy ensures equitable access to higher education for a significant section of society.
Final Steps for Seat Allotment
It is crucial for students to understand that clearing CUET-UG and choosing DSMNRU is only the first part of the journey. Admission will be done solely through the national entrance test scores, but securing a seat requires active participation in the subsequent university-level counselling. Failure to register separately for DSMNRU's counselling will render a candidate ineligible for the final seat allocation, regardless of their CUET score.
This shift to a centralised entrance test like CUET-UG streamlines the admission process for students across the country, providing a single-window opportunity to seek entry into a renowned central university like DSMNRU. Aspirants are encouraged to meticulously follow all notifications from both the NTA and the university's official website to ensure they complete every step of the admission procedure correctly and on time.
