Delhi Govt Awards Rs 25.3 Cr Scholarships to 1,709 Students

New Delhi witnessed a significant educational boost on Monday as the Delhi government distributed scholarship amounts to meritorious students from economically weaker sections. This distribution happened under the Delhi Higher and Technical Education Assistance Scheme.

Massive Financial Support for Students

The Directorate of Education implemented this scheme effectively. Scholarships totaling nearly Rs 25.3 crore reached 1,709 students studying across various universities in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressed a large gathering of students at Thyagaraj Stadium during the event.

"Providing scholarships represents the Delhi government's investment in their bright future," Gupta stated emphatically. She called this initiative a significant step toward strengthening the youth's future. The chief minister confirmed the transfer of scholarship amounts directly to student bank accounts for the academic years 2023-24 and 2024-25.

Clearing Pending Amounts and Future Assurance

Gupta also announced the release of a pending scholarship amount worth Rs 19 crore. She made a firm commitment about future educational funds. "No amount earmarked for students' education will remain pending henceforth," she declared confidently.

The event coincided with National Youth Day and Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary. The chief minister urged students to study Vivekananda's thoughts and philosophy. She encouraged them to progress steadily in their careers while striving to realize their dreams.

Education Minister's Strong Declaration

Education Minister Ashish Sood attended the event and delivered a powerful message. He described this platform as a clear political and moral declaration. "In Delhi, education will no longer be a subject of politics," Sood asserted. "Rather, politics will devote itself only to education reform."

The minister emphasized that this change emerged from policy and intent rather than mere speeches. He explained the government's core mantra of antyodaya. "Antyodaya means the first benefit of the system must reach the student who stands at the very end but dreams of moving to the very front," Sood elaborated.
