In a significant recognition of academic excellence, Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) has been conferred the prestigious Chief Minister's Award for the best university in 2025. The award was presented under the Kerala Institutional Ranking Framework (KIRF), a state-level mechanism developed by the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) to assess and promote quality, transparency, and academic excellence among higher education institutions across Kerala.

KIRF: A Framework for Excellence

The Kerala Institutional Ranking Framework (KIRF) serves as a critical tool for evaluating higher education institutions, focusing on parameters such as academic quality, research output, infrastructure, and student outcomes. By implementing this framework, KSHEC aims to foster a culture of continuous improvement and transparency, ensuring that Kerala's educational institutions remain competitive and innovative.

This year's awards not only celebrate the achievements of individual institutions but also reflect the broader success of KIRF in driving educational excellence across the state. The recognition of diverse fields—from engineering and management to pharmacy, nursing, teacher education, and agriculture—demonstrates Kerala's holistic approach to higher education development.

As these institutions continue to set benchmarks, the awards are expected to inspire others to enhance their academic and operational standards, contributing to Kerala's reputation as a hub for quality education in India.
