AKTU Partners with ISRO for Student Internship Program in Space Technology

In a significant development for technical education in Uttar Pradesh, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). This collaboration will provide students with unprecedented access to internships at one of India's premier space research institutions, offering valuable exposure to cutting-edge space technology and advanced research methodologies.

Eligibility Criteria and Duration Details

The internship program features comprehensive eligibility requirements designed to accommodate students across various academic levels. BTech students become eligible after completing their sixth semester and can apply for internships ranging from 10 to 24 weeks. MTech students qualify after their first semester for internships lasting between 10 and 36 weeks. Diploma students have the option to pursue internships of 12 to 24 weeks duration, while MSc and PhD scholars may apply for the most extensive internships, spanning from 10 to 52 weeks.

All applicants must meet specific academic standards, having secured at least 60 percent marks or maintaining a minimum CGPA of 6.3 throughout their academic career. This ensures that participating students possess the foundational knowledge necessary to benefit from the advanced research environment at ISRO facilities.

Program Structure and Benefits

The internships will be conducted across ISRO's 15 research centers distributed throughout India, providing students with geographical flexibility and exposure to different research environments. Selected candidates will receive a stipend during their internship period, making the opportunity financially accessible to deserving students from diverse backgrounds.

Applications must be submitted exclusively through ISRO's official online portal, ensuring a streamlined and transparent selection process. This digital approach facilitates efficient processing while maintaining the program's professional standards.

Educational Impact and Future Prospects

Mahip Singh, CEO of Innovation Hub at AKTU, emphasized the transformative potential of this initiative. "This internship programme represents a landmark opportunity for our students to gain hands-on experience in a premier research organization like ISRO," he stated. "It effectively bridges the critical gap between academic learning and practical application while significantly enhancing students' technical skills, research exposure, and future career prospects in science and technology sectors."

The program is expected to create a robust pipeline of skilled professionals equipped with practical experience in space technology and research. By connecting classroom learning with real-world applications at India's leading space agency, AKTU aims to foster innovation and technical excellence among its student community, potentially contributing to India's growing capabilities in space research and technology development.
