ACPDC Unveils Admission Timeline for C to D Diploma Engineering Scheme for 2026-27
The Admission Committee for Professional Diploma Courses (ACPDC) has officially announced the comprehensive schedule for admissions to the second year of diploma engineering programs under the Certificate to Diploma (C to D) scheme for the academic year 2026-27. This initiative provides a crucial pathway for students who have pursued technical education after Class 10 to advance their careers in engineering.
Key Dates and Registration Details
Online registration for the C to D scheme will commence on April 17, 2026, and remain open until April 30, 2026. This streamlined process is designed to facilitate easy access for eligible candidates across Gujarat. Following registration, the provisional merit list is scheduled for release on May 11, 2026, marking the first step in the selection process.
Admission Rounds and Important Milestones
The admission procedure includes multiple rounds to ensure fair and transparent allotment. A mock round of choice filling will be conducted from May 11 to May 14, 2026, with results declared on May 18, 2026. This allows candidates to familiarize themselves with the system before final decisions. The final merit list will be published on May 20, 2026, followed by the first round of seat allotment on May 22, 2026. Students must complete fee payments by May 26, 2026 to secure their seats.
The second round of admissions will begin on May 29, 2026, with allotment results announced on June 4, 2026. This phased approach helps optimize seat allocation and provides opportunities for candidates in subsequent rounds.
Eligibility and Scope of the C to D Scheme
The C to D scheme serves as an alternative route for students who opt for Industrial Training Institute (ITI) programs or two-year technical certificate courses after completing Class 10, instead of directly enrolling in diploma engineering. Upon successful completion of these courses, eligible candidates can gain direct lateral entry into the second year of diploma engineering programs. This not only saves time but also enhances skill development by building on prior technical knowledge.
In addition to ITI students, candidates from courses administered by the state's Technical Education Department are also eligible under this scheme. This broad eligibility criteria aims to include a diverse range of technical learners, promoting inclusivity in higher education.
Seat Availability and Recent Developments
Sources indicate that approximately 35,000 seats are available for admissions under the C to D scheme across various polytechnic colleges in Gujarat. As per existing regulations, 10% of the total intake in diploma engineering programs is reserved for such candidates. However, recent legal developments have led to a significant change: vacant seats in colleges are now being filled through this admission process, thereby increasing the overall availability of opportunities. This adjustment ensures better utilization of educational resources and provides more chances for aspiring engineers.
The ACPDC's announcement underscores the growing emphasis on vocational and technical education in Gujarat, aligning with national goals to enhance skill-based learning. By offering a structured pathway from certificate to diploma levels, the scheme empowers students to pursue advanced engineering studies without redundant coursework, fostering a more efficient and targeted educational journey.
