UPPSC Cancels 410 PCS 2025 Mains Applications Over Multiple Discrepancies
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has taken strict action by cancelling the main examination applications of 410 candidates who had successfully cleared the preliminary stage of the Provincial Civil Service (PCS) 2025 recruitment process. This significant decision comes after the commission identified various discrepancies in the applications submitted by these candidates.
Official Notification and Candidate Details Released
The commission has formally released the roll numbers of all affected candidates on its official website, along with detailed explanations for each rejection. According to UPPSC officials, candidates were given a final opportunity to submit their representations either through postal mail or by appearing in person before the commission by 5 pm on March 17, 2025.
Primary Reasons for Application Rejection
Educational Qualification Issues: The largest category of rejections involved 260 candidates who were found not to possess the required educational qualifications for the specific posts they had applied for. This represents the most substantial reason for application cancellation in this recruitment cycle.
Missed Application Deadlines: Another 95 candidates had their applications cancelled because their main examination forms were not received by the commission by the prescribed deadline of January 5, 2025. The commission maintains strict adherence to submission timelines for all recruitment processes.
Additional Grounds for Application Cancellation
Documentation Discrepancies: The applications of 5 candidates were rejected due to inconsistencies in their dates of birth as presented in various submitted documents. Such discrepancies raise questions about the authenticity of application materials.
Invalid Category Claims: The commission also cancelled applications of 13 candidates who claimed the Dependents of Freedom Fighters (DFF) category and 5 who claimed the ex-servicemen category in their online forms. These candidates neither attached nor uploaded the necessary certificates supporting their category claims with their main examination applications.
Some of these candidates later submitted affidavits or representations requesting that their claims under the DFF category should not be considered. However, the commission clarified that any change in category or sub-category after the last date for submission of applications is strictly not permissible, leading to the rejection of their applications regardless of subsequent requests.
Background of PCS 2025 Recruitment Process
The UPPSC declared the PCS 2025 Prelims result on December 1, 2025, wherein 11,727 candidates qualified for the Mains examination. The main examination is scheduled to be conducted from March 29 to April 1, 2025, across various examination centers in Uttar Pradesh.
Separate Recruitment Announcement for Review Officer Positions
In a related development, the commission has also released the detailed distribution of posts for the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer Examination 2023. According to the official notification:
- Review Officer Posts: Out of the total 338 Review Officer posts, the highest allocation—322 positions—are in the Uttar Pradesh secretariat, while 13 posts are in the commission itself and 3 in the Board of Revenue, Uttar Pradesh.
- Assistant Review Officer Posts: For Assistant Review Officer positions, 81 posts were announced, including 40 in the secretariat, 23 in the Board of Revenue, and 18 in the commission.
This comprehensive recruitment process demonstrates the UPPSC's commitment to maintaining transparency and strict adherence to eligibility criteria while filling crucial administrative positions within the state government machinery.
