UP Board Reopens Portal to Address Missing Practical Exam Marks

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) has announced a critical two-day window to resolve a significant issue affecting thousands of intermediate students. The board will reopen its official portal on April 6 and 7, allowing schools to upload pending marks from the intermediate practical examinations. This urgent move comes after a review uncovered that data for 34,637 students remains missing, potentially jeopardizing their board results.

Background of the Practical Examination Process

According to board secretary Bhagwati Singh, the intermediate practical examinations were conducted in two distinct phases. The first phase ran from January 24 to February 1, followed by the second phase from February 2 to February 9. Initially, the deadline for uploading marks was extended to February 13 to accommodate schools where practical exams were still pending or marks had not been submitted online.

However, a subsequent investigation revealed a persistent problem. Singh explained that while external examiners had completed their evaluations, internal examiners at 652 practical examination centres failed to upload the marks through the school login system. This oversight has created a backlog that now requires immediate attention.

Strict Measures and Warnings Issued

The board is taking this situation very seriously. During the reopened portal period, internal examiners must upload the remaining marks using the link available on the official website. Singh issued a stern warning: failure to comply within the stipulated time will result in the affected students being declared failed in their practical examinations.

Furthermore, the board has emphasized that accountability will be enforced. In cases where marks are not uploaded, responsibility will be fixed on the internal examiners, principals, and district school inspectors involved, citing lax supervision as a key factor.

Call to Action for Educational Institutions

To prevent any student from suffering due to procedural lapses, the UP Board has urged all affiliated institutions to act promptly. Schools are advised to:

  • Verify all pending practical marks immediately.
  • Ensure internal examiners are prepared to upload data on April 6-7.
  • Coordinate with district inspectors to avoid any last-minute issues.

This initiative underscores the board's commitment to fairness and accuracy in the evaluation process, aiming to safeguard the academic futures of thousands of intermediate students across Uttar Pradesh.
