Tragic Drowning Incident in Hassan Claims Lives of Two Students

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Sakleshpura, Hassan district, on Saturday, resulting in the tragic deaths of two pre-university students. The young men, identified as Bharath and Mithun, drowned in a local pond while attempting to rescue cattle they were grazing.

Details of the Fatal Accident

The duo had taken cattle for grazing when one of the cows entered the pond. In an effort to pull the animal back to safety, one of the students entered the water but unfortunately slipped and began to drown. Witnessing his friend in distress, the other boy immediately jumped in to attempt a rescue. Tragically, he too was overcome by the water and both young men lost their lives in the incident.

Response and Official Actions

Following the accident, local authorities were alerted and the bodies of both students were retrieved from the pond. They were subsequently shifted to a government hospital in Sakleshpura for post-mortem examination.

MLA S Manjunath visited the hospital to offer condolences to the grieving families. During his visit, he strongly urged the state government to provide compensation of at least Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased students, recognizing the profound loss they have suffered.

The Sakleshpura police have registered a case regarding the incident and are conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragic drowning.
