Dr. Kumar stated: "We initially flagged this concern with the Municipal Corporation, seeking a mutually beneficial solution. Regrettably, instead of decreasing, the number of stray dogs on our campus continues to increase daily. This matter now demands immediate and effective intervention from the concerned authorities."
Sterilization Policy Failure and Previous Attack Incidents
PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal provided further troubling context, confirming that this represents a substantial ongoing problem for the university community. "This has developed into a major issue we're confronting," Dr. Gosal explained. "There have already been multiple incidents where dogs attacked students on previous occasions. We formally requested the Municipal Corporation to address this situation comprehensively."
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the inadequacy of current municipal approaches: "According to their existing policy, authorities collected dogs for sterilization procedures but subsequently returned them to our premises afterward. This partial measure has proven completely ineffective in resolving the core safety concerns while allowing the stray population to continue growing unchecked."
